Weekend Away

The start of this year has been hectic for us. We have been busy busy busy, and when it all finally settles down, we will have a new addition to the family.

So what have we been up to while I have been missing from my blog?

Well one thing is that last weekend we travelled down to Brisbane for a very busy, fun couple of days away.

We visited Sea World, hubby drove a V8 Race car, Cohen explored Surfers Paradise, we caught up with family, and we ate way to much.

It was fantastic, and we cant wait to do it all again.

Moments Like These

My little boy started Kindy this week.

Where has the time gone, I swear it wasnt 3 and a half years since I had a little new born.

I know people say that all the time, but it is true. For every one of us.

Day in day out your life is busy. Cleaning the house, washing clothes, making breakfast, lunch, dinner or all the snacks in between. Making beds, going to swimming lessons, tripping over toys, reading story books or playing cars. Theres always something. Than, every now and then, time stops and you see a little boy standing there, and wonder where he came from. He cant be the one who was not long ago drinking from a bottle, pulling everything out of the kitchen draws, or wobbling around trying to master a few steps. And then you realise that time has gone. It is the same little boy. He just isn’t so little any more. And in the next moment to come, you want to cry from time gone to fast mixed with proudness that he is such a great little guy, so you sweep him up, tickle his little neck, kiss his freckles and promise never to forget to take this moment more often.

I am so proud of our little guy, and though I miss his cute little babyness, I wouldn’t trade him for anything else or any other time. I just want to soak up as much as I can, and be there for every step of the way. Even the first step out the door for Kindy.

A Day in the Life

A day in the life of our son.

It starts with packing lunch. He starts kindy next week so we are getting him used to his new lunch box and eating at certain times of the day, instead of all day like at home.

Watermelon, Blueberries, Carrot, Broccoli, Rice cakes with cashew butter, Chips, Sausage Casserole with Mash (best mash ever is potato, avocado and cauliflower, yum), and some Marshmallows for a treat.

Swim class in the morning.

Snack time in the park and then some play while we wait for Daddy to arrive home from work.

We had to stop and go watch the train going past.

Just because I don’t want to forget how he is always collecting stones.

One of the many things that Daddy’s are best for.

Can not keep this boy indoors even if I tried. But I would not want it any other way.

Last play for the day when he was actually suppose to be in bed, sneaky sneaky.

Love our boy so much. What a year this year will be for him, kindy and a new sibling. I just hope it doesnt make the time go quicker.

Pregnancy Reading

I am a total book worm, I always have at least 2 on the go, usually 3. At times I have to actually make my self completly finish one before starting another just so I dont get so swamped by them.

If I can’t find what I want in a book, I am researching on the net.

So I have a few books and sites that I love that I wanted to share for anyone that is pregnant or planning to be.

Paper:

Birth Skills. By Juju Sundin ~ Such an amazing book to help you through labour.

Save our Sleep. Tizzie Hall. ~ This was a god send to us. We had a colic baby with silent reflux, who didnt eat or sleep properly. I also had no family or friends as I was in a new town, and a husband who worked away. It really helped get our little boy into a routine, and me get my sanity and sleep back. It is also packed with loads of other stuff like starting solids and much much more.

What to Expect when Expecting. By Sharon Mazel ~ This is just an every pregnant mothers must have book.

Optimum Nutrition. Before, during and after pregnancy. By Susannah Lawson ~ Jam packed full of nutritional information to make sure you and your baby are getting all the right stuff for a healthy pregnancy and beginning of baby’s life.

**Well Adjusted Babies. By Dr Jennifer Barham-Floreani ~ I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this book to not only pregnant or soon to be pregnant mothers, but anyone who has their own little family, big or small. There is so much health information in this book that it will benefit the whole family, not just the bundle on its way. I loved every part of this book, and couldn’t put it down the whole time. It is easy to read, and will really open your eyes to the health and well being of your family. I think EVERYONE should own this book. Go buy it. Now. Please:)

Internet:

My Birth My Way is a great site for anything about natural birthing. I adore it. Make sure to check out about Birth Photography;)

Birth Without Fear shares great little articles and stories on facebook. Sausage Mama & The Sausagettes is another great Facebook page, as well is The Analytical Armadillo. Lots of great posts to look through.

If you know of any other books or great sites that you would love to share, I would love to hear about them.

Don’t forget to get a copy of Well Adjusted Babies:)

Us + One More

We are now 26 weeks, so close to the third trimester. It is crazy how fast it has gone already.

To date: I have put on 2 kg from my conception weight, totally crazy I know, but everything is fine, it is just all baby and baby making gear. I have never been one to put on weight.

I am starting to experience heart burn, but it is easily avoided. I only get it if I eat something naughty like milk chocolate, or if I have somethings with nasty preservatives. My body has always been the sensitive type but very much more so with this pregnancy.

I am starting to feel like an uncomfortable whale – My husband gets cranky at me about this all the time – I think it is just something that comes with pregnancy. The uncomfortable restless nights, the lack of comfy clothes that fit. I think it doesn’t help that baby sits very low, making it frustrating to wear anything around my belly.

Otherwise everything else is fine. I am finally 95% over the morning sickness and dizzy spells, which is good enough for me.

I am even eager to get training again after what I am sure has been a couple of months off.

All in all, everythings great.

We have starting thinking about the birth, and we are excited for when it’s time to welcome our new little addition into our family.

Here is a picture from last week, 25 weeks.
